Faith Formation 2010-2011 Registration Grades 1 thru 8 Registration is now closed for the 2010-11 school year. Registration for the 2011-12 school year will begin in Spring 2011; however, any questions may be directed to our Faith Formation Coordinator, Karen Guglielmoni, at 650-588-1455. St. Veronica Parish welcomes all children and youth, baptized or not, to participate in the Faith Formation Program. To enroll, you must be a registered member of the parish. Your child's faith journey continues for a lifetime. As parents you are the primary catechists for your child. Help them continue to grow in faith by enrolling them in Faith Formation classes throughout their formative years! Class Days: Grades 1-6: Wednesday 3:30-4:45 pm OR Saturday 9:00am to 10:15am Grades 7-8: Wednesday 7:00-8:15pm 8th Grade class is the first year of Confirmation Preparation. First Communion Preparation is a 2 year program beginning with Grade 1. We also have classes for older children who have not yet received First Communion. Please contact the office for details. Tuition: $75 for one child $100 for two children $110 for three or more children $30 First Communion Fee No child will be turned away due to financial hardship.     This will consist of five pages Classes will begin in September 2011. Confirmation May 2011 Dear Confirmation Candidates and Parents, Welcome to the preparation program for the sacrament of Confirmation. The program is a time of prayerful thought and active formation for the young men and women of our parish. Confirmation, along with Baptism and Eucharist, mark our sacramental initiation into the church. In Confirmation, we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit. At St. Veronica, the Confirmation program is open to those of high school age who have completed 8th grade religious studies, either in the Faith Formation program or in the Parish School. The format of the program provides for education, worship, service and reflection in preparation for receipt of the sacrament. Our candidates for Confirmation will participate in weekly "home group" meetings, meet occasionally together during Sunday liturgy, service our community and attend a weekend retreat. The home groups meet evenings in the homes of our catechists, typically 10-12 times during the year. The role of the sponsor is an important one in the sacrament of Confirmation and is not just an honor given to a good friend or relative. Along with the parents and catechists, the Confirmation sponsor will personally help guide the candidate during his or her journey of faith. Sponsorship implies a real appreciation of the faith and a sense of responsibility toward the candidate. By Canon Law, a sponsor must be a fully initiated (Baptism, Eucharist, & Confirmation) practicing Catholic and may not be the parent of the candidate. The sponsor should be someone the candidate admires and must be capable of assisting the candidate in preparing for the sacrament. The candidate should take some time to prayerfully consider the choice of a sponsor. If you have questions, please contact the Faith Formation Office. We typically request our Confirmation dates for mid-February, but the date for Confirmation will be set by the Archdiocese and is usually announced in the fall. Correspondence and questions should be directed to the Confirmation Team through the Faith Formation Office. During the summer, you will receive a mailing with more specific dates, permission slip, parish service forms and home group selection requests. As we are preparing to begin this journey of faith, we would like each of our candidates to reflect on why he or she is making the choice to be confirmed. On a separate piece of paper, please answer the following questions in a thoughtfully written manner: 1. Why do I wish to be confirmed in the Catholic Church? 2. Why do I wish to enroll in the program at St. Veronica Parish? A thoughtful response would require more than 1 or 2 sentences. Your response should be a neatly prepared paper worthy of the importance of the task! Please send your written response to the Faith Formation Office no later than June 30, 2011 along with your registration form and check.   This will consist of two pages We look forward to joining you in this journey of faith. Welcome to St. Veronica's Special Education Faith Formation Program! For 11 years, St. Veronica Parish has been privileged to host a Special Education Faith Formation Program for children and youth. Our program is open to any child of the Archdiocese, regardless of the parish with which the family is affiliated. We welcome you and your child! Generally, the program meets twice monthly on Saturday mornings from 10:30-11:45. We will begin the 2011-12 year in early October. We prepare the children for the sacraments of First Communion and Confirmation. Our enrollees continue to attend the program as long as they like! Our catechists, Sandi Zicke and Pam Lucero, are educational specialists in the field of special education. Both are special education teachers. They bring an unsurpassed dedication and love of teaching to the program. Through the generous support of the Knights of Columbus, there is no tuition for this program. Please fill out the registration forms and return them to us as your earliest convenience. You can mail them to the Faith Formation Office or drop them at the Rectory.
